My interest and the study of sailing and navigation goes all the way back to grade school. While my dad would watch and talk with the fishermen in the harbor, I was more interested in the sailboats in the harbor. I was the odd kid that was learning from the lectures at the Wisconsin Marine Historical Association while my friends were playing video games and listening to music when I was a freshman in high school. It took me until college to take my first sailing lesson, but sailing and navigation on the waterways of the world has always intrigued me.
My quest for leadership learning has also taken much the same course as I picked up leadership book after leadership book from my high school days through today. Many lessons were also learned in the corporate world and on the waterways to bring me to your organization today. As a USCG Captain and ASA Sailing Instructor I am committed to providing you with world class training and professional development.
As a certified John Maxwell Coach, Franklin Covey Trainer, and Speaker, I can offer you workshops, seminars, keynote speaking, and coaching; aiding your personal and professional growth through study and practical application of these proven leadership methods. Working together, I will move you and/or your team or organization in the desired direction to reach your goals. I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Master’s of Science Degree in Education from Concordia University-Wisconsin.
My passion is to teach, coach and encourage organizations and individuals to be responsible stewards of all the resources entrusted to them. I use lessons from the world of sailing and navigation to tie the teaching together so that it is applicable to your organization. It’s my goal to add value to your organization by increasing team enthusiasm, communication, and commitment by shaping a vision of the future. The outcome of our time together is a set of accountable improvement goals that are worked on over a period of 12 months. I have over 30 years’ experience in the for-profit and nonprofit world as a team leader and as a member of the executive staff.
